A group of ten sentenced of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A persistent conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their complaint states that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The pair married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
